Yesterday, Dorothee Bär, Germany’s Federal Minister for Research, Technology and Space, opened this year’s MSWissenschaft exhibition in Berlin under the title “Medizin der Zukunft.” The CRC1454 is very excited that its exhibit “Achtung entzündlich” is now touring Germany, Austria, and Poland alongside around 30 other exhibits.

A highlight for the CRC: Dagmar Wachten, spokesperson, and Theresa Vonderheit, communication manager, had the opportunity to present the exhibit during the "Parlamentarischer Empfang" aboard the MS Wissenschaft to representatives from politics, science, and society. The reception was hosted by Parliamentary State Secretary Matthias Hauer and brought together members of the German Bundestag as well as representatives from health and science organizations. The fact that “Achtung entzündlich” was selected by the Bundesministerium für Forschung, Technologie und Raumfahrt and Wissenschaft im Dialog (WiD) as one of only three exhibits featured during the evening is a special recognition of both the research within CRC1454 and the science communication efforts.

The exhibit translates metaflammation research into an everyday kiosk setting: Between snacks, soft drinks and newspapers, visitors can explore how lifestyle and the immune system are connected. Through animations, the exhibit illustrates how unhealthy lifestyle choices can affect the heart, adipose tissue, gut, and brain.

The exhibit is funded by the CRC1454 – Metaflammation and Cellular Programming, the BarmeniaGothaer Foundation, the the University of Bonn’s Transdisciplinary Research Area (TRA) “Life and Health” within the framework of the German Excellence Strategy, and the Bonner Universitätsstiftung.
